Elder Timothy J. Dyches served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Germany South Mission (1970–1972), high councilor, stake president, temple ordinance worker, Area Seventy, president of the Oregon Portland Mission (2008–2011), and deacons quorum adviser. At the time of his call, Elder Dyches was serving in a ward Young Men presidency.

Elder Dyches served as a member of the Europe Area Presidency from August 2013 to August 2016 and is currently serving at Church headquarters as an assistant executive director in the Temple Department and chairman of the Restoration and Cancellation Committee.

He attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in university studies. He received his medical degree and his specialty training at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1985 he began a private practice performing ear, nose, throat, and head and neck surgery until 2008, when he departed to serve as a mission president. He married Jill Elizabeth Dudley in April 1974. They are the parents of three children.

Though we wish we could enjoy our traditional ceremony with reverence and approbation as well as lei, music, and celebration, the university ohana sends its love and aloha. We commend and congratulate each graduate and hope you will join us virtually in this unique experience and celebrate with your families and a safe and meaningful way.

Education, both intellectual and emotional, usually occurs best when you personal meet someone who is different than yourself. As you get to know them, they are humanized and you can see through the myth and misperceptions that previously clouded your thoughts about that group.
