Shaun and Mindy McKnight from Cute Girls Hairstyles are making a difference this holiday season by helping build awareness for the global water crisis.
Instead of spending money on neighbors and friends for large gifts that often go underused (and are often underappreciated), they are helping to #LightTheWorld by donating clean water to people who desperately need it!
So, essentially, the McKnight family has decided together to go without a traditional Christmas this year.
They are donating their “Christmas” money, along with all the advertising revenue from the video above, to fully fund a water purification village in the Dominican Republic.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
And, why would they do this?
Here’s the backstory . . .
In August, Shaun and Mindy were at CVX Live, and were asked to attend a humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic to witness the inauguration of a water purification project in the village of Batey Verde.
Traveling with them would be other amazing influencers like
- WhatsInside (http://www.youtube.com/whatsinside)
- ShineProject (http://www.youtube.com/user/Ashleylemi)
- MintArrow (http://www.youtube.com/mintarrow)
During the trip, they were able to catch a glimpse of how important clean water can be. If you watch the video, you’ll see what they experienced and how we felt as they watched these villages and neighborhoods be transformed by clean water!
When Shaun and Mindy got back from the DR, they were changed people. When their kids heard our their experiences and saw the videos and photos from their trip. At that point, they all agree that DONATING CHRISTMAS would be a memory they would never forget!
They plan to take a trip down to the DR in early 2018 for the inauguration of that water project, so their children can see what a difference their sacrifice really made!
So cool, right?
In the video description, Mindy writes the following:
This holiday season, we invite all of you to do as the Savior would do. When He said in Mathew 25:35-40 “I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink” and then later “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Give the gift of water this Christmas, by donating what you would have spend on a family, friend, or neighborhood gift exchange, and donate that money in the link above! Then see how this gift of water will transform 100’s of people in an area of the world that needs it!
