Garth Smith is back at it! “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” is the first video release from Garth Smith’s fourth studio album “A Sacred Christmas” (release date Nov 10, 2017) which features 11 tracks of original piano arrangements of beloved (and some new) Christmas songs.
The lyrics for “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” is thought to have been written by a monk in the 8th century. The lyrics were lost for over 1100 years until they were discovered by a brilliant linguist and Anglican priest named John Mason Neale, who wrote and spoke over 20 languages. Neale was researching ancient texts on the island of Madeira near Africa when he discovered and translated the lyrics. O Come, O Come Emmanuel was first published in English in the 1861 book “Hymns Ancient and Modern”
