Over the last few years, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has sponsored seasonal initiatives around Easter and Christmas to share powerful messages about our Savior, Jesus Christ.

These initiatives typically are heavily digital in nature, where videos, memes, and other assets are shared through social media. There are components that include more traditional advertising as well, including out-of-home advertisements on buildings and vehicles, meetinghouse posters, and special signage at visitors’ centers.

You may remember the Church’s first Easter initiative (2014) that utilized the hashtag #BecauseOfHim.

The 2016 Christmas campaign, #LIGHTtheWORLD, focused on outward service to others and created a grassroots effect that has been unparalleled in Church history. It created a groundswell of interest and enjoyed participation, both offline and online, by a record number of members and non-members alike.

Following #LIGHTtheWORLD is 2017’s Easter initiative entitled “Prince of Peace.” In this campaign, the Church is inviting the world to be more introspective and find the inner peace that can come from the life and teachings of the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church’s official release about the initiative is located HERE.

The main goal of these initiatives are typically to proclaim the risen Lord.

The #PrinceOfPeace initiative has the following overarching goals:

• Invite all to come unto Christ.

• Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace (see Isaiah 9:6).

• Share ways to find peace through the Savior.

The DESERET NEWS has a great explanation of the purpose of the #PrinceOfPeace initiative:

Appropriately timed to coincide with the week leading up to Easter, the purpose of the “Prince of Peace” initiative is threefold:

Invite all to come unto Christ.

Beginning March 31, visit the “Prince of Peace” website on Mormon.org to watch the 2:33-minute video illustrating the role of Jesus Christ as the “Prince of Peace,” then invite others to do the same. The video will be available in 33 languages, and the website is in 29 languages.

Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace.

During Holy Week — from Palm Sunday, April 9, to Easter Sunday, April 16 — learn more about eight principles of peace: faith, compassion, forgiveness, repentance, gratitude, God’s word, prayer, and hope. Each day, the website and social media sites will feature one principle with a video about an individual’s experience finding peace by living that principle.

Share ways to find peace through the Savior.

Watch for the videos and related content on the Church’s social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram) or the Prince of Peace website in English and Spanish. Visit the website to see what others are doing to share the message. Then be sure to share personal efforts and experiences. Don’t forget include #PrinceofPeace.
