9 ym advisory council members

Nine new individuals have been appointed to the Young Men General Advisory Council. This significant announcement reflects the Church’s dedication to guiding and overseeing young men aged 12 through 18. The council will collaborate with the existing members and Young Men General Presidency to impart valuable counsel, service, and guidance.

The newly appointed members will join the current council, consisting of Craig B. Ballard, John Bytheway, David T. Lisonbee, Thomas E. Mullen, and Peter G. Vidmar, in collaboration with Young Men General President Steven J. Lund and counselors Brother Bradley R. Wilcox and Brother Michael T. Nelson.

New Council Members

1. C. Michael Hansen (64)

  • Background: Former president of the France Paris Mission (2020-2023), with extensive experience in various church leadership roles and a distinguished career in commercial real estate and sports marketing.
  • Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree in French and communications and an MBA from Brigham Young University.
  • Location: Resides in Provo Utah Edgemont Stake.

2. Paul M. Harman (67)

  • Background: A seasoned individual with a background in law and a history of service as a mission president in the Santos, Brazil Mission.
  • Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree from the J. Ruben Clark Law School.
  • Location: Resides in the Park City Utah Stake.

3. Larry R. Laycock (63)

  • Background: Diverse experience, including serving as a mission president in the Chile Santiago East Mission and current involvement in intellectual property and complex litigation law.
  • Education: Earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a juris doctorate from the J. Reuben Clark School of Law.
  • Location: Resides in the Alpine Utah West Stake.

4. Fernando Maluenda Mateluna (61)

  • Background: Notable service in various church leadership roles and significant contributions to the Church’s planning and investments.
  • Education: Holds degrees in civil engineering, industrial engineering, and business administration from Chilean universities.
  • Location: Resides in the South Jordan Utah Highland Stake.

5. R. Todd Miner (53)

  • Background: Technology consultant with a career spanning several tech companies, also served as a mission leader in the new Cameroon Yaoundé Mission.
  • Education: Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.
  • Location: Resides in the Salt Lake Stake.

6. J. Scott Nixon (64)

  • Background: A retired partner with PwC, Nixon brings a wealth of experience in accounting and has served in various church leadership roles.
  • Education: Holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Utah State University.
  • Location: Resides in the Layton Utah Kays Creek Stake.

7. Robert B. Walker (60)

  • Background: Mission president in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission and founder of a commercial real estate development company.
  • Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and a law degree from Brigham Young University.
  • Location: Resides in the Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake.

8. Mark J. Wiest (65)

  • Background: Significant contributions to Church VIP Hosting and mission leadership, with a 35-year career at Bonneville International/KSL.
  • Education: Received a bachelor’s and master of business administration from Brigham Young University.
  • Location: Resides in the Salt Lake Monument Park Stake.

9. David J. Wunderli (62)

  • Background: A seasoned executive with a background in accounting and corporate leadership, serving in various church leadership roles.
  • Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Utah.
  • Location: Resides in the Alpine Utah Stake.
