With Pokemon making a huge comeback, it makes me ask why. I mean, not that it ever really went away. I mean, I got back into it as well. I rewatched the shows, I bought cards, I played Pokemon Arceus. It’s exactly how I imagine Pokemon would be played as a kid, and I love it. But again, why? That’s what I want to explore here. Is it nostalgia? Is it right timing? Is it just a trend right now? Is everyone bored and has nothing better to do? Or is there something more to it? Even something spiritual? Okay, I need to pause right here. Why am I even concerned about is it spiritual? Why is that even a question? I really want to show that just like our physical health, our mental health, our spiritual health is important and we can really nurture it in any part of our lives, or at least that’s what we’re here to find out, right? For a top rated TV show, Pokemon is an undeniable obsession with children across the country. Pokemon Fever is back, and it’s everywhere. For the last year and a half, everything Pokemon has been a huge hit with customers.

Pokemon is literally the hottest thing right now. The Trading Guard game is seeing an unprecedented rise in popularity, but it’s something that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. No wonder why the hobby may be more popular than ever. Since getting back into Pokemon, I bought in a hat, but not this one. If you can guess what this hat is, high five. I’ve bought in a hoodie, I’ve bought in merch, I’ve bought in posters, I’ve bought in Picasso, Snorlax, cards, collectibles, other things. I’ve gone to toy shops, card shops, vintage shops, malls, all for Pokemon. There’s other adults with me. I promise I’m not the only weird one. Okay, while I was editing the video, I realized that I could tell you about buying Pokemon cards, but instead of trying to show you. Okay, I just got to where the card shop is. I’m going to go grab a few cards and I’ll be right back. Okay, so we just got two packs for $30. One of the packs cost $20, so at least they had some free posters and some stickers to hopefully make up for it. But yeah. All right, let’s head back home.

My head is always crooked. These cards, let’s see. These two, the Astral Radiant that you’re seeing are from the new, the most recent pack released. This one is Unified Mind. Costs $20. Let’s see what that’s about. Luckily enough, they had some stickers and posters that were free. To mitigate that price of a $20 pack of cards, that’s a pretty sick poster. I can’t really complain, especially because I got it for free. Then here’s the two stickers I got. I believe it’s the two Legendaries. Let’s get into them. Okay, The first one got Green Energy. That’s cool. Drift Bloom, cool. Trucker shoes, Golduck, that’s pretty cool. Cyther, Batoon, I think. Vultor, Hatoon. Okay, this is from… Is this not from the new RCS? Let me know. Registile. Okay, nothing. I mean, there are some cool ones. There’s a reverse hollow here. Let’s put them aside and open the next one. Okay, let’s see. I’m going to save this $20 one for last because it’s $20. Let’s open this next one, get some ASMR. Okay. Okay, again. 1, 2, 3, 4. Okay, Energy, Magneton, Geekjabag, which is a stadium. Cool. Oh, that’s cool. Togetik? I don’t know how to pronounce it, but I have Togetik.

I like Togetik. Ceasel, that’s what it is. Evie, Feathr, Batterball. Okay, whoa, that’s cool. Hesuyn, Desidou. That’s a sick card. I’m happy with that. Again, I don’t know values. This and the other. Okay, $20. Let’s see what this $20 is all about. Here’s the thing, I love Pokemon cards, but I’m not so much of a fan to understand why a pack of cards costs $20. That didn’t really make a cool noise. Okay, oops, forgot the rule. 1, 2, 3, 4, Okay, Catam energy looks a little different. Craselia, Cherishball, the Taros, Codney, Homantis, Sweetle, Sea Waddle, I’m sorry. Marini, Litwik. That’s cool, a reverse hallowed lapros and a cross. Okay, I mean, cool cards. Some of these, I have a few decks I have, and one of them is Psychic. This card is great. That’s probably what I’m going to end up doing, is going through my deck and seeing what I can add to it. Opening cards is a lot of fun, but I don’t think that it’s spiritual as much as it is the gamble of I just paid money, I better get something good back. Whether it’s price value and if you’re a collector or just you want that finishing Pokemon to perfect your deck.

It’s exciting. It’s so exciting. That’s the only way I know how to explain it. And hopefully you came across on the screen, hopefully you were as excited as I was opening them. Maybe I’m not the best card opener like everyone else on Twitch, but it was fun. It was a lot of fun, but I don’t know if I can call it spiritual. It was exciting, probably because of the gambling aspect more than anything, but it was fun. Okay, there’s one last thing I need to show you guys, and it’s this. Okay, these aren’t even all of them, but these are some of my cards. Here’s some more. But what I pulled this out for is to show you guys the card game. This has become huge. But inside of here, there’s a board, there’s cards, there’s rules. I’ve made a few of my own decks, they’re upstairs. My decks normally go in there, but I was playing with them. Honestly, playing the game is so much fun, and I’ve even gotten my wife to play and she likes it. It’s way more strategic than you would think. It’s Pokemon Mania everywhere, from Burger King to the king of internet retailing.

If you guys don’t know what Pokemon is, but you’re in need of some serious remedial toy education. Okay, I’ve been watching Pokemon now purely for the scientific research for this video and nothing else. How dare you ask. But I’ve loved it. Honestly, I pulled up the first episode and I thought it was going to be really cheesy that I wasn’t going to enjoy it. But it’s been great. I’ve been watching all these episodes with my dog. Say hi, Tato. He learned how to do that today. He crawls up on me. No sacred spaces anymore in our house. To understand Pokemon, we need to go back in time a little bit. The show first aired in 1997 on April first, which who picked that day? I don’t know. But it did, and that’s only six months after I was born. So the Pokemon franchise as a TV show and movie has pretty much been around since I have, which is crazy to think about. And since then, I think they’re on season 24 of the animated TV show, and I think they’re on 23 movies so far for animated movies. I don’t think that includes Detective Picasso, but that’s pretty crazy.

One of the cool things is this overall theme that they have where there’s this legendary Pokemon that people are afraid of and something happens, Ash and his friends go and try and solve this issue. What often happens is it turns out this stronger being, this legendary Pokemon, is just misunderstood. And it’s about connecting to that and to the Pokemon and really understanding them. And watching it’s really interesting because it’s definitely got aspects of spirituality. It’s got aspects of connecting to God, connecting to a higher power in the form of Pokemon. But is it a spiritual experience in and of itself? I’m sure it could be. It’s not not a spiritual experience. But I don’t know if it’ll put you over the edge. So let’s keep exploring Pokemon and see what happens. Believe me, I’m ready for a Pokemon. My wife and I recently moved to a new area, and I’ve had more people say hi to me because of a bulbasaw car scent than anything else. It just goes to show they’re outgoing, they’re friendly, they’re nice, and they don’t really care who you are. They don’t care what my job is, my salary, all this than the other.

They just care that I like Pokemon and we have something in common, so why not be friends? It’s so genuine. Honestly, up to this point, I’ve talked about good experiences, fun times, but it hasn’t really been spiritual. But when you put it into this context of playing the card games, playing the video games, watching the shows, movies, whatever it is, and then the community, that for me has been spiritual. In a sense, it’s been a huge relief that I can now be this kid that I want to be, that I can be myself and no one cares. I feel like I’m connecting back to that person that God made me. Just this quirky kid, and it’s okay. I’m learning to love who I am. I think part of it is just this letting go of what I think others think about me and embracing things that might seem different, such as Pokemon. Pokemon has absolutely been a spiritual experience. Honestly, I’d recommend it to anyone because it’s just so much fun. I really hope you guys liked this video and please subscribe. It helps me out. It helps the spirituality project out. They’ve been awesome.

And thanks to them for letting me do this video. I actually did it without really telling my boss. So shout out to my boss. If you guys are seeing this video, that means it was good enough. Along with the spirituality project, I really want to help normalize spirituality and show that it is something we can experience in every part of our lives. Let me know what you guys want me to cover next and we’ll see you in the next one. Bye. I think that’s it. That’s all the pickups I can think of. Duces.
