Recent polling data from PEW Research and Gallup indicates that young adults are less likely than previous generations to be affiliated with a specific religion. It also shows that 8 out of 10 report they believe βin God or a universal spiritβ with 77% saying they feel a βstrong sense of gratitudeβ more than once a month.

Despite a decline in religious attendance by younger adults, there is a growing trend where they are looking for social structures to express community cohesion along with shared values and stories that create common understanding.
