Skylight sat down with several young adults and asked them some questions about their spirituality and relationship with a Higher Power. Their responses were not only thought provoking but provided unique insights into how many young adults are thinking about God and the world around them.
Recent polling data from PEW Research and Gallup indicates that young adults are less likely than previous generations to be affiliated with a specific religion. It also shows that 8 out of 10 report they believe “in God or a universal spirit” with 77% saying they feel a “strong sense of gratitude” more than once a month.
Despite a decline in religious attendance by younger adults, there is a growing trend where they are looking for social structures to express community cohesion along with shared values and stories that create common understanding.
