Don’t you just love Christmas? Everyone turns outward towards others in love and concern.
As Dickens said:
“[Christmas is] a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”
As Christmas approaches, we are reminded that Jesus Christ is the “Light of the World” (John 8:12).
He also has taught us that “Ye are the light of the world,” (Matthew 5:14).
This Christmas, mormon.org (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) has invited people everywhere to do the things the Savior did while on the earth. He served others, and, like Him, if we follow in His footsteps we will #LIGHTtheWORLD.
Each day leading up to Christmas, mormon.org has identified a different Christ-like behavior and provides suggestions of how we can emulate His example on that day. There are 25 different focus activities.
You can watch daily videos about each behavior at mormon.org.
On December 1, there will be a worldwide day of service. You can serve any one in any way, large or small!
Choose a free printable kit at THE RED HEADED HOSTESS to help you and your family #LIGHTtheWORLD this Christmas. Also, please post personal pictures and stories of serving and being served on social media using the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD. You just might appear on mormon.org!
