And . . .
we continue to build temples today!
On June 1, 1833, Joseph Smith received an important revelation. The Lord told him to build a temple in Kirtland, Ohio! It was the first temple constructed with priesthood authority in these latter days.1
We keep building temples in the Church today. In the most recent general conference, President Russell M. Nelson announced that new temples will be built in the locations below.2
- Retalhuleu, Guatemala
- Iquitos, Peru
- Teresina, Brazil
- Natal, Brazil
- Tuguegarao City, Philippines
- Iloilo, Philippines
- Jakarta, Indonesia
- Hamburg, Germany
- Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
- San Jose, California
- Bakersfield, California
- Springfield, Missouri
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Winchester, Virginia
- Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
The Saints in the times of Joseph Smith didnβt have much money, and building the Kirtland temple was a significant financial sacrifice. Why do you think building temples continues to be such a priority?
