Cool Links: dead sea scrolls, historical resources, & new apps

Lifehacker.com does a “remains of the day” post where they link to stuff they didn’t write a full article on. I often find gems in those posts, and they are among the few I regularly read on their site. We’re too busy to write post on everything great we across. So the MLH team is going to collect fun, interesting, and helpful LDS-related links and do a quick post, listing them.

• Several of the Dead Sea Scrolls have been digitized and are available online. You can click on images of the actual scrolls and see English translations of verses.
• 1940 Census on FamilySearch.org is coming in April.
• WhatWasThere.com shows you historical photos overlaid on Google Maps, and lets you submit your own.
• New site History.LDS.org provides awesome church historical info, including JosephSmithPapers.org.
• RootsTech.org is updated with an awesome video (below) and special pricing through the end of Nov.
• Scripture Power Memorization for iPhone, iPod Touch, & iPad helps you memorize scriptures.
• If you’d like to participate in LDSTech service days, but don’t have a chapter in your area, you can now apply to become a Chapter Leader and start a chapter in your area.
• The Book of Mormon Windows Phone 7 app was recently released, targeted at non-members.
