You know, it’s been a long time since Isaiah, and later Christ Himself, uttered that prophecy. And yet there still aren’t a lot of kings in our sacrament meetings. In fact, it seems that the richer and more powerful a person is, the less likely he is to accept the Gospel. Plus, where are all the kings, anyway? What gives?
This video features fun and candid photos of LDS Apostles and Prophets. It has photos of President Thomas S. Monson, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, President Henry B. Eyring, President Joseph F. Smith, President David O. McKay, President Gordon B. Hinckley and more.
Imagine. The live announcement. The press conference. The pressure of the new office. The charge to bring the Gospel to all the earth. The expectations. Russell M. Nelson is now…
Tomorrow, it is anticipated that President Russell M. Nelson will become the next President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The President of the LDS Church is able to choose counselors to assist him in duties. Together, the President, along with his counselors, comprise the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
If President Nelson were to choose counselors different than President Henry B. Eyring and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (those that assisted President Thomas S. Monson as counselors), that change in the First Presidency would be monumental in Church history.
I like to think that I follow the prophet and apostles. But I grimace to think that maybe I have been guilty of some trifling with their words. The Nephites teach us how to “exert ourselves in our might” to take the words of our leaders seriously.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from around the world are invited to participate in a live message from President Russell M. Nelson on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. mountain standard time. President Nelson’s message will be followed by a press conference at 10:00 a.m. MST.
