Open your news app on your phone. How much of it is positive? The advertising that is all around us mostly reminded of what we are not and what we don’t have. Have you ever wondered what life would feel like if more of what we view, watch, and hear taught us to be content, peaceful, and hopeful? That’s where The Higher Attitudes Podcast comes in. This new show is dedicated to highlighting positive, hopeful, and even grateful ways of thinking and acting.
The podcast is hosted by Tom and Julie Obenchain, life-long members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their mission with the Higher Attitudes podcast is to invite members of the church as well as other Christians, and even non-Christians to learn to think, feel, and act in ways that are a little higher than the ways we think, feel, and act today. They invite their listeners to develop attitudes that are, well, higher.
The podcast was launched on New Years Day 2018. With more than 20 episodes available and listeners in more than 90 countries to date, the Obenchains are excited to invite members of the church to listen and share episodes with friends and family. New episodes are typically released each Wednesday and Saturday, with each episode being about 5 to 10 minutes in length. The content from the show is often drawn from the scriptures, and LDS church leaders, as well as other ideas and experiences influenced by the restored gospel.
Most episodes are produced in such a way that they are easily sharable with non-member friends. The hosts do not intend to hide the fact that they are members of the church, but rather they want to share gospel insights in ways that encourage anyone who listens to take a closer look at gospel principles and teachings and apply them in ways that perhaps they haven’t thought of before.
Life can be hard. The Higher Attitudes Podcast is designed to lift and encourage listeners to lean on the promises of the gospel of Jesus Christ for the hope and enlightenment they need to thrive.
