Tom grew up in Wyoming, Colorado, and Louisiana. He served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Germany. He graduated from Ricks College and then the University of Colorado at Denver with a degree in English Writing. He is the youngest of three children and the father of five. Tom currently serves in the church with his wife Julie as stake self-reliance specialists. In the past, he has served as an elders quorum president, young mens president, ward mission leader, high councilor, and bishop.
