Awesome deal on an Awesome Camera!

I just happened accross this deal over at cnet news.  Its for a Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS, Digital Elph.  The Canon Digital Elph’s are the best smaller, point-and-shoot type cameras out there, and have been for some time.  They’re durrable, small, take the best images, and at $144, this is a steal for any of the newer models in this line, but really a great deal on this particular one.

The SD1100 IS is an 8.0MP camera, which is very high resolution and will print nicely even at sizes larger than 8.5×11″. This model even has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).  What that means is that the camera actually has small motors inside that move the lenses arround to compensate if you’re moving or shaking slightly when you snap the photo.  It cuts way down on pictures that end up being blury when you get them on your computer or print them.  Now it’s not a magic thing that will fix all blury photos, you still want to do your best to be as still as possible when taking any pictures, but OIS will help to make it so a lot more turn out sharp and crisp.

The Elph’s have the best color and image reproduction of any camera this size, and often produce better results than much larger semi-pro or professional level cameras.  So if you’re wanting to get a digital camera for yourself or as a gift for someone you know, this is the deal for you.  You’ll want an SD memory card since the stock one wont hold many pictures, but at this price you should be able to include that for well under $200.
