This coming Sunday, 27 June, will mark the 177th anniversary of the martyrdom of Joseph Smith. And 28 June 1829—192 years ago, this Monday—is by far the consensus date for the experience of the Three Witnesses with the angel, the plates, and the voice of God. With those facts in mind, the next few days seem an unusually fitting time to reflect on those events. And, with all due modesty, I think that our film Witnesses represents a pretty good vehicle for doing that.
“Joseph Smith ignited something in thousands of men and women that connects them to God and to each other in powerful ways.”
—Terryl Givens
For more than 60 years, apostles and scholars alike have testified at BYU of Joseph Smith’s God-given role as the great restorer of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
