The Savior of the world, He held the keys,
of life and death and eternity,

They did their best to build His church

They took the gospel through the earth

Apostasy, it did begin
and the priesthood could not flow

And a kingdom he will grow
In 1820 Joseph Smith
Confused by religious politics
Asked the Lord which church was His
And to which one he should go
Then in a pillar of light,
That descended slowly from the sky
He saw The Father and The Christ
And their answer filled his soul
They said “Joseph, join none of them
Our living church isn’t among men
Their lips draw near but their hearts pretend
And a new seed we will sow”
Joseph was called and told
A restoration would unfold
The Lord gave him the keys of old
And said “go young man go”
An angel later would reveal
An ancient record in a hill
That shows that God is speaking still
Oh hear the trumpets blow
The hearts of saints the spirit filled
And holy temples they did build
As a martyr Joseph would be killed
But the work would never slow
Israel is gathered again
The heavens are opened unto men
We covenant now to follow Him
Till He comes and calls us home
