President Jeffrey R. Holland, in his discourse titled “Motions of a Hidden Fire,” delivered during the April 2024 general conference, emphasized the significance of prayer and its profound impact on spiritual growth. He affirmed that God attentively listens to every prayer, responding in accordance with His divine plan for our individual perfection.

Elder Holland stressed the universality of prayer, emphasizing that there are no constraints regarding when, where, or what to pray for, as long as the supplications are sincere and aligned with God’s will. He encouraged vocal prayers when possible and silent prayers when privacy is lacking, underscoring that any reluctance to pray does not originate from God, who eagerly desires communication with His children.

Drawing parallels with the Savior’s prayerful life, Elder Holland highlighted the importance of consistency and sincerity in prayer. He urged individuals to persist in prayer, even in times of uncertainty, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit to direct their supplications.

Moreover, Elder Holland emphasized the transformative power of prayer, combined with earnest repentance and personal righteousness, in drawing closer to God and accessing His mercy and forgiveness through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
