In a time long ago, a great fire broke out in the forest, engulfing everything in its path. The flames roared, and thick smoke filled the sky, casting a shadow over the once vibrant woodland. The animals, terrified and overwhelmed by the destructive power of the fire, stood frozen in fear, unable to think of how to save their beloved home.
Amidst the chaos, there was a tiny hummingbird named Dukdukdiya. Unlike the other animals, Dukdukdiya did not succumb to despair. Instead, she flew swiftly to a nearby stream, scooped up a single drop of water in her beak, and flew back to the blazing fire. She released the drop onto the flames and then hurried back to the stream to gather another.
The other animals watched in disbelief as Dukdukdiya repeated this act over and over. Some laughed at her efforts, while others questioned the futility of her actions. “What difference can you make with just a single drop of water?” they asked. But Dukdukdiya, undeterred by their doubts, simply replied, “I am doing what I can.”
Though her efforts alone could not extinguish the fire, Dukdukdiya’s courage and determination inspired the other animals. Moved by her example, they began to think about how they, too, could help. Together, with each creature contributing in its own way, they eventually managed to slow the fireβs spread, showing that even the smallest actions can make a difference when faced with overwhelming challenges.
