Many of us want to help those who mourn, but we struggle to know exactly what to do. We’re unsure about how to approach someone showing deep emotion.

When Lazarus died, Jesus didn’t tell Mary and Martha to β€œcheer up,” even though He would soon raise Lazarus from the dead. Instead, He wept with them and validated how they felt, giving them time to mourn (see John 11:1–46).

Our willingness to mourn with those who mourn supports others through their grieving process to find the ultimate healing and peace that come through the Savior’s Atonement.
