Keys of the Kingdom

Matthew 15-17; Mark 7-9 | April 10-16

When Jesus was on the earth, He gave His Twelve Disciples power, “to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (Matthew 10:1). This power is called the priesthood. The priesthood is the eternal power and authority of God. It is the power to cure illness and lift burdens. Jesus gave Peter, James and John priesthood keys to lead His Church when He was no longer on the earth. The keys of the priesthood allow us to perform ordinances, like baptism and sealings. The Prophet holds all the priesthood keys on the earth today, just as Peter did.

As Jesus went about using His power to perform miracles and teaching the people, some people believed that He was the Messiah and the Son of God, and some did not. Some people tried to accuse Jesus of doing wrong things. A man came to Jesus and asked Him to heal his son. Jesus told him that “all things [were] possible to him that believeth.” The man told Jesus that he believed, but quickly added, “help thou mine unbelief.” Jesus healed the boy, and He helped the man to strengthen his faith. It’s through faith that we can experience miracles in our own lives.

Quote

“We declare to the world that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. We declare with boldness that the keys of the priesthood have been restored to man, with the power to seal on earth and in the heavens. The saving ordinances pronounced by the Lord as requirements for entering into eternal life with Him can now be performed with binding authority by those who worthily exercise the power of His holy priesthood.” L.
