The stories of Mary and Martha and their interactions with Jesus are powerful stories of faith and devotion. They fed him, served him, wept with him, and were loved by him. As we study their story, we learn that we too can sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary, and testify of Christ’s divinity like Martha. These two sisters stand as witnesses of the Messiah and can show us how like them, we can be loved by Jesus.

Sometimes our prayers are answered the way we want (not to hit the pole), and sometimes the Lord sends His Spirit to comfort us (when we hit the pole). The Lord delivers us from our trials, but more often He delivers us in our trials. During times of uncertainty, often God’s answer is comfort and peace, giving us the strength to face whatever comes our way.
No matter what situation in life we are in, Jesus Christ always accepts us with open arms. We can follow his example by loving those around us.
