Lloyd Newell, the longtime host of "Music & the Spoken Word" by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, shared emotional news on December 10th. He and his wife, Karmel Newell, have been called to be mission leaders starting in July 2024. They'll find out their mission location later. Lloyd will continue with the choir until they leave. Lloyd has been the announcer for over 34 years, and Karmel has been the Tabernacle Choir's director of member support for 18 months. Mission leaders for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints oversee and train missionaries in a specific area for about three years.
