The ad — They Laughed When I Sat Down At The Piano — But When I Started To Play! — was created in 1926. Authored by John Caples, the ad went on to become one of the most popular and successful ads in history.

 

Well, turns out it’s the inspiration for a COME UNTO CHRIST ad too.

 

 

The original ad’s format has been adopted and utilized many times over the years. It appears it is now finding new legs in the religious community.
