Experiencing sadness doesn’t necessarily imply you’ve sinned.

Consider these aspects if you’re feeling down.

The saying “wickedness never was happiness” (Alma 41:10) holds true; transgressing moral guidelines often leads to eventual distress. However, does that suggest each instance of feeling down is due to personal misdeeds? Absolutely not!

Life’s ordinary challenges, the poor choices of others, natural calamities, and global crises like pandemics are just a few examples of distressing situations we may face through no fault of our own. It’s important to allow ourselves to mourn these difficult experiences.

Furthermore, conditions such as clinical depression can disrupt our brain’s chemical balance, causing complex emotions without any clear trigger.

If persistent sadness or a sense of hopelessness overwhelms you, it’s crucial to speak with a trusted adult about your feelings. Numerous resources are available, and seeking assistance is a brave and necessary step.

For those who believe their sorrow stems from personal missteps, engaging in prayer and conversing with Heavenly Father can be enlightening. Consulting with your bishop might also be beneficial.

Thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, there’s always a path to regain peace and tranquility.
