The other is similar and called “Whispersync for Voice” and expands Kindle’s Whispersync technology to Audible Audiobooks. So now the book you’re reading isn’t just synced across your devices, but also on 2 formats: both the Kindle eBook, and the Audible Audiobook. This way you can read your book while on lunch break, then pick up right where you left off, during your commute home. Pretty cool stuff. My smart wife Jill said somebody should build this, several years ago.
In order to promote this and get it launched, Amazon is offering a bunch of classic eBook + audiobook combinations for free right now. While many of the eBooks were already free, because they’re out-of-copyright classics, the corresponding audiobooks normally cost $15-$40. In total there’s 20 books available for free in both formats. Whether you have a Kindle or not, you can read Kindle eBooks and listen to Audible audiobooks on both Android and iOS devices by installing the appropriate apps. Here’s how to do it, just use this link to get to the list of free books, then I demonstrate how to do the rest in the video below:
After you’ve purchased them all, the ebooks will be sent to whatever device you designated. The audiobooks will still need to be synced via the appropriate app, unless you have a Kindle Fire HD.
