Premiering Thanksgiving day (November 24) at 6 PM MT is BYUtv’s original TV film, Winter Thaw. Based on Leo Tolstoy’s short story, “Martin the Cobbler,” and starring John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lord of the Rings), this holiday special lovingly tells the story of personal transformation and forgiveness.

Based on Leo Tolstoy’s short story, “Martin the Cobbler,” and starring John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Lord of the Rings), this holiday special lovingly tells the story of personal transformation and forgiveness. In late nineteenth-century Russia, Martin Avdeitch is a humble shoemaker whose life has been characterized by grief. Through multiple experiences he finds the courage to look outside himself and trust in the goodness of God.
