Helping Hands and other volunteers from US Gulf Coast States converge on Louisiana to assist with clean-up efforts. Hurricane Ida came ashore the Louisiana coast on August 29, 2021, with sustained winds up to 150 mph downing trees, crushing homes, and leaving electricity out for more than a million people. By weeks’ end, thousands of volunteers from throughout the region, including Helping Hands from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are in place and helping with the recovery and restoration
