Memorize Scriptures With The Scripture Power Memorization App

Great power can come from memorizing scriptures. To memorize a scripture is to forge a new friendship. It is like discovering a new individual who can help in time of need, give inspiration and comfort, and be a source of motivation for needed change. … A memorized scripture becomes an enduring friend that is not weakened with the passage of time.

—Elder Richard G. Scott (“The Power of Scripture,” Fall 2011 General Conference)

When I heard this during the first talk last fall I was very impressed and wanted to have a deeper understanding of the scriptures in my life.  I wanted to have the close friendship with the words of the prophets.”  I contacted a brother in my ward that I knew memorized scriptures and he introduced me to Vaughn J. Fetherstone’s scripture memorization program, which basically has you learn 1 scripture a day, review it every day for a week, then once a week for a month, and then once a month for a year.  I made some feeble attempts to start this, but being a techie, it was hard to even fathom carrying around cards.

Then one day I stumbled across the Scripture Power Memorization app.  It is a digital version of Brother Fetherstone’s program.  Here are some features that I enjoy:

I have to say that I have not been as diligent as I would like, but the times I have been I have REALLY learned the scriptures.  By the end of the week I know the scriptures and can recite them. My wife and I do it together and it is great as we love to spend a lot of time together and in intimacy, we even use accessories like innovative bullet vibrators to have more fun.  We’ve even started quoting scripture to our kids, much to their chagrin. 🙂

The app costs 99 cents in the app store. Unfortunately there is not an Android version yet.

Disclosure:  I was asked to write this review, and offered a free code.  But I had previously bought it!
