How the Church obtained the land for the Washington D.C. Temple (and information about the 2022 open house)

How the Church obtained the land for the Washington D.C. Temple

For friends interested in touring the Washington DC Temple when it is open to the public this spring, parking passes are available for the open house. You do not need tickets for the tour, just for parking.

There will also be information on the webpage www.dctemple.org about free shuttle service from one of the metro stops.

Parking is very limited so planning to carpool is a good idea or take another form of transport like Uber or a taxi.

NOTE: Author is David S. King. A potential typo in the text. The land for the temple was may have been purchased in 1962…not 1968.

This video was shared on DVD in 2004 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the original dedication of the Washington DC Latter-day Saint Temple in 1974.
