Elder Matthew L. Carpenter | April 2024 General Conference | ‘Fruit That Remains’ Summary

Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, a General Authority Seventy, delivered a message titled “Fruit That Remains” during the Saturday evening session of the April 2024 general conference. He expounded on the eternal blessings that come from faithfulness to the covenant of marriage.

In his #GeneralConference address, Elder Carpenter emphasized that individuals who make and honor covenants with God will witness these blessings extend beyond mortality and be permanently sealed upon them. He highlighted the significance of entering into marriage by proper authority and remaining faithful to the covenants made within that marriage for exaltation to the highest degree of the celestial kingdom. This eternal marriage covenant entails both a horizontal bond between spouses and a vertical bond with God.

Elder Carpenter stressed the importance of mutual desire within marriage to uphold the horizontal bond, as well as the necessity of fidelity to temple covenants to maintain the vertical bond with God. He reassured that even if a spouse breaks these covenants, faithful individuals will still receive the promised blessings.

Moreover, Elder Carpenter clarified that to attain exaltation, individuals must demonstrate willingness to enter into and faithfully uphold the new and everlasting covenant, whether in this life or the next. He affirmed that faithful single members of the Church will not be denied blessings.
