Latter-day Saint public school teachers sometimes face ethical dilemmas in selecting literature for their students. Because some content may run contrary to gospel principles or the teachers’ personal beliefs and yet may also be valuable for the students in navigating a world with complex and conflicting issues, teachers often need guidance in knowing when and what to censor in their classroom teaching. Derek R. Riddle discusses several principles that have helped him in these often difficult curriculum decisions.
