A Scripture a Day

Daily scripture study is vital to our spiritual welfare and should be done consistently without question. But what about throughout the day as you sit pounding the keyboard in your office? Do you ever stop and ponder back on what you learned that morning or consider the scriptures at all? A busy day can keep your mind away from the gospel and most important things in life. Luckily DailyMormon.email can help. It’s a website that allows you to receive a random scripture everyday. You can have it emailed or texted to you. I recommend having it emailed so it isn’t limited to a certain amount of characters. When I say random scripture I truly mean random. Many times they are uplifting. For example:

2 Nephi 25:29: And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.

And other times the scriptures are just funny because you don’t know the context:

Jeremiah 48:6: Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

Proverbs 15:17: Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

Judges 20:5: And the men of Gibeah rose against me, and beset the house round about upon me by night, and thought to have slain me: and my concubine have they forced, that she is dead.

I just hate it when thugs break in and kill my concubine… don’t you?

A few of us in my office signed up for this and enjoy quizzing each other on our daily scripture. We try and see if we can remember the context of the scripture or the reference. Nonetheless, it’s just a perfect way to stop and focus on the good word for a few minutes.
