Every family has Mormon moments of awkwardness, like when your dad arranges a family portrayer with everyone dressed like characters in his favorite movie and you get the Chewbacca costume. Families are like that, can you see why the brethren tell us to stay away from X and R rated movies? Can you see where they played with us to avoid drugs and alcohol and vulgar music and the other products of the carnal environment that now surrounds us? Almost as water surrounds the fish of the sea, the Prince of Darkness has dragged out the heavy artillery.
He’s no longer limited to arrows and swords and B.B. guns. Now he is Darth Vader with laser guns, light speeds and the Death Star. We are near the end of a fight to the finish and no holds barred. I have the high ground.
In reality, it is much easier to be all in and partially in when we are partially in or not in at all. There is, in the Star Wars vernacular, a disturbance in the force. We’re out of sync with God’s will and therefore out of sync with the nature of happiness.
