VIDEO: Come Follow Me with Living Scriptures: Doctrine & Covenants 1

Doctrine & Covenants section 1 is also known as “The Lord’s Preface.” It is a revelation given by the Lord to Joseph Smith intended to introduce this new book of scripture. In it, the Lord tells us that the words are for all people and that we should search these commandments, “for they are true and faithful.” The Lord warns us to be prepared and repent, and listen to the disciples whom He has chosen in the last days.

The prophet Joseph Smith and others were called to lay the foundation of “the only true and living church upon the face of the earth” and proclaim the fulness of the gospel to the world. The Lord speaks through his prophets and he tells us that whether he speaks with His own voice or through His servants, “it is the same.”
