President Russell M. Nelson—Highlights from his trip to Rome, Italy and the temple dedication

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Pope Francis inside the Vatican , the first meeting between a Latter-day Saint president and a pope. President Nelson also spoke at a special youth devotional and presided at the Rome Temple cornerstone ceremony.

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Pope Francis inside the Vatican Saturday, the first meeting between a Latter-day Saint president and a pope.

The visit comes a day before President Nelson dedicates the Church’s first temple in Rome.

President Nelson was joined by President M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

 


With anticipation building for the dedication of the Rome Italy Temple scheduled for tomorrow morning, March 10, 2019, and the public cornerstone ceremony to ocurr first, hundreds of youth packed a stake center on the campus of the soon-to-be chrisened temple. When dedicated it will be the 162nd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


 

The dedication of the Rome Italy Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is underway. On a cool and overcast Sunday March morning, Church President Russell M. Nelson conducted the symbolic cornerstone ceremony, which signifies the temple’s completion and readiness to be dedicated for sacred use. The ceremony is also symbolic of Christ as the Chief Cornerstone of the Church.
