No more opening the mailbox feeling like it is Christmas morning?

No more baited breath while you wait to see if it arrived that day and felt how thick it was to guess if you might be serving internationally?

I hear the masses now. There has been a disturbance in the Force . . .

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will stop sending future missionaries in Utah and Idaho their mission calls in their mail inbox. They are sending them lambs instead. j/k

These folks can expect their calls in their email inbox.

Prospective missionaries have had to wait several days or weeks to receive their assignment. Now, they will receive an email (or even a text message) informing them the information of their call to mission service.

By December 31, 2018, the majority of Latter-day Saint missionaries worldwide will have to rely on online connectivity to receive their call.

Any ancillary data, like maps, country information, and lists of items to bring will also be available along with the call.

Does that mean you cannot get hard copies? Not if you print them out yourself.

“Technology is there, and it’s so easy to do,” Elder Brent H. Nielson, executive director of the Missionary Department said in a press release. “We just put it online and they can read it in a matter of minutes.”

“I think it’s going to be a wonderful change for us,” Elder Nielson said.

What are your thoughts? Do you like this change?
