“May 10th, I yelled out, “Hey are ya’ll Jehovah’s witnesses?” to the sisters, honestly, because they stood out walking around in a place they clearly didn’t fit in. But as soon as they said, “No, we’re missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,” I thought, “Oh, they believe in Jesus…at first, I was curious, but now, I’m interested, so what more do you got?”
When the sisters said they had what I was looking for and invited me to church, I thought, “Yanno what? Let’s check it out and see what it’s about!”
I continued to learn the gospel as I continued to meet with the missionaries 3-4 times a week. I was actually learning and trying to figure out more and more about the Lord Jesus, and everything was making a whole lot of sense.
I learned just how much the Lord is there for you, all the things He’s done, all the things He’s doing, all the things He brought me back from. He was there in all the things I thought I couldn’t bear, but I did. Being a part of Him makes more sense, makes life wayyy easier in my eyes; I felt like I finally found God.
The Book of Mormon has told me about all the outlooks and things people have went through, and who they still kept on their side and how much faith they had to keep things going. Their faith is something else, it’s like magic!!
Because of my conversion, I want my kids to see me as a winner, not a loser, someone who doesn’t give up when I easily could’ve. I grew up in foster care and homes, I can’t tell you how to be a man, a dad, a mom either, all I can do is show you how to be yourself at all times.
Being at church really helped me a lot, it’s pure.
Being baptized washed all my sins away and now I’m just trying to be a good person moving forward.”
