Discover the Power of Words | Ronald A. Rasband, “Words Matter,” General Conference, April 2024

Elder Ronald A. Rasband recently shared:
Words matter a lot. Let me say that again. Words matter!
They are the bedrock of how we connect; they represent our beliefs, morals, and perspectives. Sometimes we speak words; other times we listen. Words set a tone.
Elder Rasband gives three ways words matter:
The Lord’s Words Matter
“Believing and heeding the word of God will draw us closer to Him. President Russell M. Nelson has promised, ‘If you will study His words, your ability to be more like Him will increase.'”
The Words of the Prophets Matter
“Prophets testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ. They teach His gospel and show His love for all. I bear my witness that our living prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, hears and speaks the word of the Lord.”
Our Words Matter
“Our words can be supportive or angry, joyful or mean, compassionate or tossed aside. In the heat of the moment, words can sting and sink painfully deep into the soul—and stay there. … So be careful what you say and how you say it.”1
How can your words bless others today?

The new temple recommend interview questions: What exactly has changed?

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continued his fervent focus on improving the faith’s temple worship Sunday at the concluding session of the 189th Semiannual General Conference. He read an updated list of questions Church members will be asked when receiving a temple recommend. The new questions are below. Temple recommend questions have been periodically clarified or adjusted to meet the needs and circumstances of God’s children. These current updates clarify, but do not change, worthiness requirements to enter a temple.
