Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; rise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
For those of you like me who find it hard to wake up early, head on over to Steven Palvina’s site. He’s got a great post on how to become an early riser.
The trick it seems is not to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday, but rather just wake up at the same time. You only should go to bed when you’re actually sleepy. Some days you’ll be sleepy at 10 PM, others at 12AM, but you still wake up at 5 or 6 AM.
I’ve been doing it this past week and it seems to be working. It’s been really nice. I’ve been able to get much more done during the day by waking up a few hours earlier. Let’s see if I can keep it up.
Good fill someone in on and this post helped me alot in my college assignement. Gratefulness you for your information.
I constantly struggled with the missionary sleep/awake schedule, always living as a night owl prior to my service. It wasn’t until I began working a full-time job in Education that I was able to change the pattern.
For me, the biggest secret is consistency and patterns. Going to bed at different times never worked for me. I had to set a standard bed time and standard wakeup time. And then I had to establish patterns of a bedtime ritual: shut off lights, turn on fan, turn on white noise, set alarm, leave and use the restroom, hop into bed.
If I miss any of these steps or do them out of order, I’ve found that it’s harder to fall asleep. With them in place, I fall asleep in a matter of minutes and sleep pretty solid. I’ve been using a FitBit Ultra to test my findings, and I’m pleased to report I’m pretty spot-on.
I second what Gdub says. For me, going to bed at the same time every night is very important. I didn't used to be that way thought, and when I wasn't, I had a very hard time waking up early. When I'm consistent about my bedtime, it is easier for me to wake up earlier.
