Map Your Ancestors is a neat service that integrates Ancestry.com and Google Maps. You can make plots on Google Maps that show where your ancestors have lived. You can also include photos in the Google Maps plots to show what the area looked like when your ancestor lived there.

  1. Hey, I just found this post and thought I would add a link of my own. As part of a project with some others, we have done a similar thing at Family Tree Mapper. We use the new familysearch.org api so to get the full functionality you would need that but we are working on a GEDCOM upload feature to be released at some point. The project is still in beta, but development is still moving forward.
